Healthy Origins Magnesium Bisglycinate Description
Magnesium Bisglycinate (or glycinate) Chelate is a low molecular weight, high bioavailability magnesium which has been the subject of many clinical trials for cardiovascular health, women’s health, respiratory health, neurological health and digestive health. Healthy Origins® Fully Reacted Magnesium Bisglycinate Chelate is developed in partnership with Albion Labs Inc., a leader in mineral research and development.
Healthy Origins Magnesium Bisglycinate Chelate is produced using chelation technology from Albion Laboratories, the world leader in amino acid chelate nutrition. The scientists at Albion have found a way to substantially increase the bioavailability of elemental magnesium by bonding it with the amino acid glycine. Amino acids are easily identified and assimilated by the body. Glycine is the ligand that supports the transport of magnesium into the intestinal cell, maximizing the bioavailability of the magnesium.
Magnesium Bisglycinate Chelate has been the subject of clinical trials for cardiovascular health, women’s health, respiratory health, neurological health and digestive health.

Magnesium Glycinate vs Magnesium Oxide
Magnesium Oxide contains about 60% elemental magnesium. Therefore for the uninformed customer it is a good choice because it contains so much magnesium. But he/she may not know the absorption of magnesium oxide is so low (4-15%), and it is dirt cheap to produce, and it’s only good as a laxative, nothing more.
On the other hand, magnesium glycinate’s bioavailability (absorption rate) is very high. It is much more expensive to produce than magnesium oxide, and its elemental magnesium content is only about 14%., which means you need to put 714mg of magnesium glycinate into one pill just to provide 100mg of elemental magnesium. But if your goal is to benefit your heart, muscles, brain and nervous system, better go for magnesium glycinate!
