What is Vitamin C used for?

Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, is a well known vitamin and antioxidant that does a magnitude of things. These include: tissue repair, collagen formation, immune defense, free radical scavenger, inflammation reduction, helps with certain neurological conditions (like carpel tunnel syndrome), increases iron absorption in the gut (when taken together) and much more.

How much Vitamin C should I take?

Typical dose ranges from 500mg to 1g daily depending on your needs. Higher doses are generally unnecessary as absorption drops significantly, excess will be excreted through kidneys, and may cause side effects.

When should I take Vitamin C?

You can take Vitamin C anytime. If it causes stomach upset, take with food. You may want to split doses if you're taking more than 1g per day as your body may not absorb as much.

What are the side effects and precautions of vitamin C?

Vitamin C can cause stomach upset so you may want to switch to a gentle form such as Ester-C. Other side effects may occur during overdose, such as diarrhoea and stomach cramps. Generally Vitamin C is very safe for all individuals, but there may be some interactions with certain medications so be sure to double check with your physician.

What's special about Healthy Origins Vitamin C?

Most Vitamin C on the market is made from GMO corn. Healthy Origins is made from Non-GMO ingredients, and in an easy-to-swallow capsule form. Suitable for vegans.
